Searching for Monaro's hidden treasures – nominate your community champion now!
Nominations are now open for the upcoming Monaro Service Awards, a ceremony dedicated to recognising and thanking those who put service above themselves and contribute to their community.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro opened nominations today, asking the public to take a moment to think of a member of their community who has gone above and beyond while volunteering.
“Some of the Monaro’s finest volunteers have been recognised with Monaro Service Awards, but we know that our towns are full of others who are truly deserving of the award,” Mr Barilaro said.
With over two million volunteers in NSW, the Monaro Service Awards aim to thank local community champions. Previous awardees have contributed to various walks of life, including sporting clubs, community groups, education, health, heritage, the environment, emergency services, charities, events, the arts, cultural groups and advocacy groups. Many previous award recipients have volunteered and contributed to multiple and varied causes.
In addition to individual awardees, Monaro Service Awards can be awarded to dedicated community groups and clubs as a whole. Previous group recipients have included CWA branches, RSPCA branches, school volunteering clubs and organisations working to make the Monaro a better place.
“We know that our volunteers are the heart of the Monaro,” Mr Barilaro said.
“They are dedicated to helping each other out and work together with the common goal to make this the best place to live.
“We have countless unrecognised individuals who quietly go about their work, and their impact on our lives is immeasurable.
“Twice a year, I get to thank our volunteers with Monaro Service Awards, but I need your help to do so. Please send your nominations through to me so that we can recognise our quiet contributors.”
Award recipients will be invited to a special ceremony where they will be thanked and recognised for their efforts.
“We are looking for those who go above and beyond the definition of their role; the people who get little recognition but still work day in, day out to better their community,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Please get in touch with me with your nominations. I look forward to hearing about our local heroes.”
Nominations will close on Friday 28 September 2018. Please send nominations to John Barilaro’s Electorate Office via email to email@example.com or via post to PO Box 998 Queanbeyan NSW 2620. Alternatively, you can contact 02 6299 4899 with any queries about nominations.
