Monaro takes next step in economic boom

Friday, 11th August 2017

Member for Monaro John Barilaro today welcomed the creation of a new Business Development Manager position for South-East NSW.

The new position in the Office of Regional Development will service the Queanbeyan-Palerang and Snowy Monaro local government areas from a Queanbeyan base.

Mr Barilaro said today’s announcement will put the Monaro in an even stronger position to maximise the significant growth and investment opportunities in the region.

“Right across the Monaro we are seeing the results of innovative ideas and hard work that grow our local economies,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Today’s decision to appoint a new Business Development Manager means we are taking the next step to ensure we make the most of the current investment boom in the region.

“The Monaro is seeing a historic investment in our local schools, roads and infrastructure, and through the NSW Government’s $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund we will continue to turbo-charge our local economies.”

Mr Barilaro said the demand for a new position to be created is a strong endorsement of the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government’s regional growth plan.

“The Monaro is certainly open for business and I am looking forward to working with the new Business Development Manager to make sure our communities continue to grow and thrive.” Mr Barilaro said.
