Lights, Tigers, Action! Barilaro kicks off the season
The 2018 Queanbeyan Tigers Football Club season launch was made all the better with the official turning on of the brand new lights at the Tigers’ home ground, Allinsure Park.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro joined the club for the season launch and said it was great to see the $450,000 investment by the NSW Government finalised for the club to enjoy.
“The Tigers are an integral part of our community here in Queanbeyan and they have been around for almost 100 years,” Mr Barilaro said.
“This is a huge investment in one of our most-loved local clubs and it is clear that the NSW Government is committed to supporting local sport here in the Monaro.
“The lighting project has been driven by the club’s executive members, who have been dedicated in their work to provide the best facilities for the club and its players.
“The Queanbeyan Tigers Club rally around whenever something needs to be done or funded, and it was great to be able to help them out with $450,000 for this major project.
Mr Barilaro said the Queanbeyan Tigers were experiencing a steady growth in participation rates across both junior and senior football and the upgrade would allow for safer and well-lit training sessions and evening games.
“The lights will allow for extended hours of use of the oval and I know that the Tigers will get in and use the facilities as much as they can,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Congratulations and thank you to the club on the hard work it took to finalise this project for the benefit of all players. I wish the Tigers the very best of luck for the 2018 season.”
