YOUTH PROJECTS TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

Projects promoting youth engagement and inclusion are getting kick-started, as Monaro’s local organisations can now apply for a share of the NSW Government’s $1.5 million Youth Opportunities fund.
“Youth Opportunities is an initiative that provides a platform for young people in our region to engage with the community, socialise and gain new skills,” Mr Barilaro said.
“This program supports and encourages young people from all walks of life to thrive, including those from regional areas, indigenous heritage, linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds, disadvantaged youth and young people with a disability.
“Youth involved in the program get the chance to participate in a diverse range of activities and develop a variety of skills, including skills in management, hospitality, event planning and artistic development.”
One-off grants of between $10,000 and $50,000 are available to non-government organisations and councils, for new youth-driven projects that use strategies to support participation and community engagement.
Since the establishment of the program in 2012, more than $10 million has been invested in projects across the state.
Applications for grants under the program close on 16 July 2019.
