STRAIGHT SETS FOR JERRABOMBERRA TENNIS CLUB
The Jerrabomberra Tennis Club has been revealed as the big winner from the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants program.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro has announced that the club has received a very welcome boost of $125,000 to upgrade the lighting at its courts.
“The lighting at the Jerrabomberra Tennis Club was in desperate need of an upgrade and I am happy to announce that the Club can now move ahead with its plans, which I know will help attract more players,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The grant will see a major upgrade to the court lighting, which will help improve night competitions, social games, coaching and future events.”
Jerrabomberra Tennis Club President Peter Terwee said the club is overjoyed by the news and cannot wait to get started on the improvements.
“A big thank you to Mr Barilaro and the NSW Government for helping us deliver this new infrastructure for the Jerrabomberra and surrounding community,” Mr Terwee.
“The new LED lights will not only help make it easier for our players during the night competitions but will also half the Club’s electricity bill.”
The announcement coincides with the opening of the second round of the program, with $12.5 million available in 2019/20 for new or upgraded facilities across sport and recreation, arts and culture, disaster readiness and community infrastructure.
Mr Barilaro said local organisations should start thinking about what project they would like to see come to life.
“Other clubs and organisation should take advantage of this opportunity, with the opportunities endless,” Mr Barilaro said.
Possible projects include new or upgraded sports grounds, museums, theatres, homeless shelters and evacuation centres.”
Applications for the second round of funding for 2019/20 are open until Monday 16 December. To find out more information or to apply, please visit responsiblegambling.nsw.gov.au
