SHOOTING RANGE SAFETY A PRIORITY FOR NSW GOVERNMENT

Monday, 25 June 2018

Three shooting clubs across the Monaro are set to benefit from $10,929 in NSW Government funding as part of the 2017/18 Safe Shooting Program, Member for Monaro John Barilaro said today.

Mr Barilaro said the primary focus for the 2017/18 round of funding was to enable clubs and ranges to connect with the new Firearms and Licensing Communications Online Network (FALCON) system. The system will allow clubs to do a live firearms registry check of people using their range and the funding allocated will help clubs get set up to do so.

The Cooma Branch of the NSW Field and Game Association Inc has received $5,000 to purchase a computer, software, Internet connection and generator to enable the club to access the FALCON system.

The Captains Flat Shooting Sports Club Inc has received $2,429 for the purchase of a computer, printer and Internet access to allow the club to access the FALCON system.

The Cooma Rifle Club Inc has received $3,500 for the purchase of a tablet to utilise the FALCON system and the purchase and installation of an electronic target for the club to use.

Mr Barilaro visited Cooma Rifle Club to deliver the great news.

“The main aim of this program is to increase the safety at shooting facilities in NSW and I congratulate and thank Cooma Rifle Club for getting on board with the roll out of the FALCON system and applying for funding to implement the system at their club,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government will always be there to support our grassroots community clubs and I know the Club will enjoy their new electronic target.”
