RED DEVILS SCORE WITH CANTEEN FUNDING ANNOUNCED
Friday, 18 May 2018
Member for Monaro John Barilaro today joined volunteers and players to present the Cooma Red Devils Rugby Union Football Club with $30,000 to fund a brand new canteen.
The canteen will be constructed at the Red Devils’ home ground, Rotary Oval. “The Red Devils are a club that are truly deserving of this funding,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Backed by volunteers and fundraising, it is great to be able to help the club out with funding for a new canteen.
“It can be pretty hard to brave the Cooma weather for training during the week or for games on the weekend, so I know that the community will appreciate a new canteen with the facilities to provide plenty of warm snacks and hot drinks.
“With plans underway and construction on the horizon, I know the club is very excited for their new facility.”
Mr Barilaro said the funding was secured under the NSW Government’s 2017 Community Building Partnership Program which saw $300,000 in funding spread across groups and causes in the Monaro.
“The Community Building Partnership program has just opened up again for 2018 and this year we have $330,000 to allocate to projects in the Monaro,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I strongly encourage our local community groups and organisation to have a look at the Fund before applications close on Friday 15 June.”
The Community Building Partnership program has awarded $275 million in funding to 12,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009.
