NSW GOVERNMENT ENSURES NO CHILD WILL MISS OUT
Families and long day care centres across the Monaro have received welcome news today, with the Member for Monaro John Barilaro announcing the extension of two key NSW Government programs.
Mr Barilaro said the NSW Government’s extension of the Quality Learning Environments and Community Grants programs allows not-for-profit long day care centres as well as community preschools to benefit under the programs.
“We have broadened the eligibility criteria, which means more children will have access to upgraded facilities and better educational experiences,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I am thrilled more children in Monaro will benefit from the grants, which have already been greatly received by a number of community preschools across the region.
“Community preschools in Monaro are benefiting significantly from the Quality Learning Environments and Community Grants programs, and now it’s time for long day care centres to experience the same benefits.”
Since the introduction of the program in 2018, the NSW Government has awarded more than 770 Quality Learning Environment grants, helping services across the state fund renovations, repairs, purchase infrastructure items, and provide specialised educational programs and activities, like yoga or dance classes.
In 2018 Braidwood Pre-School received $6,459 for outdoor blinds and cultural programs, $5,028 went to Karabar Pre-School for a bush tucker garden, Nimmitabel Pre-School received $13,680 for fencing and a sand pit and Monaro Mobile Pre-School received $3,600 to conduct art lessons.
Hundreds of services have also benefitted from the Community Grants program since its establishment in 2018, which aims to increase the number of disadvantaged children participating in an early childhood education program.
Applications for the Quality Learning Environments grants are now open and the Community Grants will open in June.
