NEW DIGS FOR COOMA PONY CLUB
Thursday, 14 March 2019
Pony Club enthusiasts in Cooma have a new place to call home, with the Member for Monaro John Barilaro officially opening the Cooma Horse and Pony Club’s new clubhouse today.
The project, funded with two grants from the NSW Government totalling $85,000, consists of a new clubhouse and storage shed.
Mr Barilaro said the Cooma Horse and Pony Club have been operating in the community since 1956.
“The club currently has 35 members with many of these riders competing regularly at state and national level,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Horse riding and equestrian events have been a great source of entertainment in the community for many years and I’m pleased we can support this great club with the facilities it deserves.”
Cooma Horse and Pony Club President Jen Stockl said the new clubhouse and storage shed project have boosted club morale.
“This project has meant the world to us,” Ms Stockl said.
“The old clubhouse was falling down and freezing in winter, and we had to hold meetings elsewhere because the facilities were not up to scratch.
“Now we have a proper home with gas heating, fans and a comfortable space to hold meetings, functions and store our jumps and equestrian equipment.
“We’d like to thank John for his ongoing support of our club.”
