NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE GETS MUCH NEEDED SUPPORT
The Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre has been allocated $60,000 in NSW Government funding to assist with running the service.
The Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the funding will go a long way to deliver programs and services that support the wellbeing of people living in the area.
“The support this centre offers to people across our region is priceless,” said Mr Barilaro.
“The Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre supports thousands of residents, visitors and winter staff with its provision of social services and initiatives.
“I have long been a supporter of the Centre, understanding its importance to the Snowy Mountains community.”
Mr Barilaro said the injection of funds means the centre can continue its services such as the senior’s technology program, a library service, meeting space for community groups, a study hub for students who don’t have access to technology and offering support for seasonal workers.
Snowy Mountains Neighbourhood Centre Manager Helen Blackmore-Lee welcomed today’s announcement.
“We are extremely happy to know that the important part we play in the lives of others has been acknowledged,” said Ms Black-more Lee.
“Our work has been validated and will continue to make a difference through this funding.
“The SMNC committee and volunteers are thankful to John Barilaro; he has always recognised the true value of the SMNC and the important role it plays in service provision and support of the people who live, work and play in the Snowy Mountains.”
