MONARO EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION SCORES A NEW CLUBHOUSE
The Monaro Equestrian Association will soon have a brand new clubhouse, with Member for Monaro John Barilaro today announcing that the group was successful in the latest round of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said the club secured more than $330,000 to build a new community clubroom and adjoining shed at O’Brien Public Reserve in Berridale.
“This announcement is significant and exciting not just for the Monaro Equestrian Association but the wider local community,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The facilities at O’Brien Public Reserve are utilised by a large number of community groups across the Snowy Monaro region and these new facilities will make a huge difference.”
The project will see a new club room built, along with an adjoining storage shed. A new verandah will also be constructed, as well as a new concrete pavement area and an off leash dog area.
The grant will also allow the connection of the clubroom to electricity.
“Our local community groups deserve to have great amenities and I am so pleased the NSW Government is able to help the Monaro Equestrian Association with this significant project,” Mr Barilaro said.
“I cannot wait to see the finished project, which I know will benefit the community for years to come.”
Secretary of Monaro Equestrian Association Sue Wallace said the funding will make an enormous difference to the local community.
“The new community clubroom at O’Brien Reserve will provide a terrific central home for our members, who come from across the Monaro,” Ms Wallace said.
“Until now we have always rented various pony club grounds and showgrounds to run our events and club days. Having access to a clubroom and shed at our new grounds will make a big difference.”
