LIONS PARK IN BERRIDALE RECEIVES $5,000
The Berridale Lions Club will receive $5,000 to assist with installing a roof over the existing barbecues at Lions Park in Berridale, the Member for Monaro John Barilaro announced today.
Mr Barilaro said the funding will help improve the facilities for residents and their families, as well as visitors travelling to the ski fields.
“The new facilities will allow Berridale Lions Club and the broader community to host local events, including fundraising opportunities for the club,” said Mr Barilaro.
“I’m proud to support the Berridale Lions Club. The NSW Liberals & Nationals Government is committed to supporting volunteer organisations that bring our community together.” Berridale Lions Club member Tony Hayes said members and volunteers of Berridale Lions Club make a stronger community by providing help whenever possible.
“Our volunteers help make the community thrive, and ensuring there is a park with proper facilities for the community is a perfect example of this,” Mr Hayes said.
“Our members are also empowered to develop leadership skills, a sense of self purpose, and create social connections with others.” The Minister responsible for volunteering, Ray Williams, said in NSW there are more than 2.1 million volunteers who contribute more than $5 billion a year to the NSW economy.
“Volunteering makes a difference. This is why I encourage everyone to get active, get involved and volunteer,” Mr Williams said.
“The NSW Government’s Volunteering Website is great starting point for anyone who wants to give back to the community.”
