ELLERTON DRIVE EXTENSION FORGES AHEAD

Member for Monaro John Barilaro joined Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Mayor Tim Overall to inspect the progress of the Ellerton Drive extension.
Mr Barilaro said the project was now 70 per cent complete, with all bridge piers now built and five of nine segments launched across the Queanbeyan River.
“This is an exciting project for the community that will provide an alternative route around the CBD connecting east and west Queanbeyan to the new southern population growth areas,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The bridge across the Queanbeyan River marks a milestone for the project as, once complete, it will link both sides of the 4.6km project over the Queanbeyan River to allow completion of the project by mid-2020.
“Pavement upgrade work on the existing section of Ellerton Drive is expected to be completed by the end of the month, and the final 600 metres of drainage for the project will soon be underway.”
The $86 million Ellerton Drive extension project started construction in November 2017. The Federal and NSW governments have each committed $25 million toward the project while Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council has committed $36 million.
