COOMA COLTS GET NEW STABLES WITH STORAGE FUNDING ANNOUNCED
Tuesday, 8 May 2018
Member for Monaro John Barilaro today met with Cooma’s youngest rugby league players to present the Cooma Colts Junior Rugby League club with $18,576 in funding. The grant will be used for the installation of a lock up equipment storage facility.
“We all know that sport is the lifeblood of the Monaro and investment in local sport is an important focus for the NSW Liberals and Nationals Government,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Local sports bring people together, even on those freezing cold Saturday and Sunday mornings, so it is important to support our local clubs where we can.
“I am thrilled to be announcing this funding today and I know the club is looking forward to having a brand new facility.”
Mr Barilaro said the project is one of 831 that have received funding as part of the NSW Government’s Local Sport Grant Program.
“The program provides grants of up to $20,000 towards projects and aims to fund facilities that will ensure ongoing involvement in sport and support for community clubs,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The NSW Government is committed to supporting grassroots sport and improving participation rates across the state.
“We know that sport has many proven health, social and economic outcomes and I encourage eligible clubs to apply for the next round of funding.
“Projects that are eligible include upgrades to local amenities or improving access to facilities, training programs and community events.”
Program applications open in late 2018.
