Barra’s Blog – Monaro Service Awards
Tuesday, 22nd August 2017
There is no place I would rather live than the Monaro. We are surrounded by the most beautiful back drop, state of the art facilities, and above all, a tight-knit community of hard-working and caring people. Twice a year I get to recognise members of our community for their dedication and contribution to the Monaro by presenting them with Monaro Service Awards at special awards ceremonies in Queanbeyan and Cooma.
I will be hosting the next Monaro Service Awards later this year and I encourage you to get in touch with me to nominate those who go above and beyond to make the Monaro a better place to live.
There are more than two million volunteers in NSW, and the Monaro Service Award is a small way of thanking our local community champions. Previous awardees have contributed to various walks of life, including sporting clubs, community groups, education, health, heritage, the environment, emergency services, charities, events, the arts, cultural groups and advocacy groups.
The people of the Monaro are dedicated to helping each other out and working to make this the best place to live. There are many unrecognised individuals who quietly make a difference and their impact is immeasurable.
Additionally, Monaro Service Awards can be awarded to dedicated community groups and clubs. For example, the Queanbeyan CWA Evening Branch and the CWA Queanbeyan Branch have been previously honoured for their outstanding work in the local community, creating a network of support and connectivity in Queanbeyan, and for supporting various local projects.
I encourage you to contact me with your nominations at firstname.lastname@example.org, via phone at 02 6299 4899 or via post to PO Box 998 Queanbeyan NSW 2620. I look forward to receiving your nominations and hearing about our local heroes.
