BARILARO OPENS COMMUNITY GRANTS PROGRAM

Tuesday, 10 May 2018

Member for Monaro John Barilaro is calling on community groups to apply for funding under the NSW Government’s $30 million Community Building Partnership Program.

Mr Barilaro said applications are now open, with $330,000 available to each NSW electorate, including Monaro, for funding for the delivery of community infrastructure projects with social, environmental or recreational outcomes.

“Under the last round of Community Building Partnership funding we saw many worthy groups receive funding,” Mr Barilaro said.

Examples of previously funded projects include:

– $17,500 for Cooma North Preschool’s kitchen refurbishment
– $50,000 for junior sized tennis courts in Jerrabomberra
– $5,568 for a kitchen refurbishment in the 2nd Queanbeyan Scout Hall
– $24,975 for a new storage shed for the Cooma Athletics Club

“We all want to see our communities grow and thrive, and I know there are many groups out there with excellent ideas that could be funded under this program,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The NSW Government has made improving local infrastructure a key priority and our strong economic management allows us to make this investment.

“If your organisation or club needs extra funding for the building, refurbishment or enhancement of facilities, then I’d strongly encourage you to apply.”

The Community Building Partnership program has awarded $275 million in funding to 12,000 community projects since it commenced in 2009.

Applications are now open and close at 5pm on Friday 15 June 2018. Applicants must read the program guidelines to ensure their club or organisation and proposed project are eligible.
