APPLY NOW TO HONOUR MONARO’S MEMORIALS
The second round of the NSW Government’s 2019-20 Community War Memorials Fund has opened for applications.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said grants of up to $10,000 are available to help conserve, repair and protect war memorials across the region.
“Our military personnel have sacrificed so much to protect and serve our country and it is important that we properly acknowledge their efforts,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Through previous rounds of the Community War Memorials Fund, we were able to restore the Cooma Cenotaph – a memorial with a significant heritage value and meaning to the local community.
“Local groups including the Bombala RSL Sub-Branch and Bungendore War Memorial Committee have also used the fund to help maintain and repair war memorials across the region.
“The Monaro has a rich history and the region’s war memorials help us to understand it. This fund aids in keeping our war memorials in good condition,” Mr Barilaro said.
Acting Minister for Veterans Geoff Lee said the fund helps ensure our veterans and our State’s military history are acknowledged.
“Our war memorials are precious monuments we need to cherish and protect as they give us a place to reflect and pay our respects to those brave soldiers who fought for the freedom we enjoy today,” said Mr Lee.
Applications will close on Anzac Day 2020.
