9 NEW POLICE OFFICERS FOR MONARO POLICE DISTRICT
Member for Monaro John Barilaro has welcomed the announcement of 9 extra police officers to the Monaro Police District. Over the next 12 months the new officers will join the Monaro community to walk the beat and respond to emergencies.
The NSW Government is committed to making NSW a safer state with the first allocation of the $583 million investment in extra police assigned to local stations and specialist areas to protect communities and fight crime.
“I’m excited our community will benefit from the NSW Government’s investment in new police, with 9 new officers, including one specialist aged crime prevention officer,” Mr Barilaro said.
“Our government is providing more officers and building better stations across our region. The Queanbeyan justice precinct has received $9 million for stage one of the courthouse upgrade and $20 million for the new police station.
“$13 million is allocated for upgrades to Jindabyne, Thredbo and Perisher police stations and $817,000 has been allocated to Braidwood Police Station upgrade.
“We know the nature of crime is changing and therefore it is vital to introduce more police to the NSW Police Force. In addition to more local police on the ground across the state, there will be a boost to the ranks of high visibility teams as well as specialist crime fighters devoted to strategic intelligence and cybercrime.
“The 9 new police officers in Monaro add to our commitment to deliver first class police and justice facilities in the region. I am proud to welcome these men and women and wish them every success in their careers in the Monaro Police District.”
