$100,000 for Snowy Mountains this summer
Wednesday, 13 December 2017
The natural attractions, exciting events and unique accommodation in the Snowy Mountains will be promoted to more visitors across Australia this summer thanks to a funding boost from the NSW Government’s Regional Tourism Fund.
Member for Monaro John Barilaro said Tourism Snowy Mountains had secured $100,000 in NSW Government funding to help deliver a cooperative marketing campaign aimed at increasing overnight visitation outside of the peak holiday period.
“During the warmer months, our region becomes an adventure playground and I am delighted that Tourism Snowy Mountains will benefit from the Regional Tourism Fund, which helps to boost local economies through marketing and product development support,” Mr Barilaro said.
“The integrated marketing campaign will include digital and social media advertising as well as digital support from online accommodation website, HotelsCombined, placing the Snowy Mountains front and centre across the next five months.
“From bushwalking and mountain biking to exploring our fresh local produce and world renowned schnapps, this region has so much on offer and we look forward to highlighting some of our most popular attractions through the new Snowy Mountains campaign, bringing additional visitors into our hotels, restaurants, shops and local attractions.”
Last summer, the Snowy Mountains welcomed 147,000 domestic overnight visitors who spent $138 million in the region, up 52 per cent from the previous year.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the Regional Tourism Fund is part of the Government’s strategy to turbocharge tourism right across the State.
“Driving tourism growth in rural and regional NSW is one of the Government’s top priorities and as a country-based Minister, I am committed to ensuring regions such as the Snowy Mountains reap the benefit of our record investment,” Mr Marshall said.
“I congratulate Tourism Snowy Mountains on their marketing initiative which is set to inspire and motivate more travellers to book a trip to the region during the warmer months.”
The Regional Tourism Fund is part of the NSW Government’s record funding commitment of $43 million over four years. The Fund, managed by Destination NSW, provides investment into the regional visitor economy on a matched dollar-for-dollar basis.
